I recently received photocopies of our dialect in it's proper printed form from a book written by Kurt Lück titled, "The German Settlements in Kholm and Lublin." Published in 1933. Here is a copy of one of the pages.

High German:

Wenn die Kinder das Vieh austreibenm singen sie z.B. auf eine Kuh, die Liesel heißt

 

He rein, he raus!

Treib die faule Liesel raus!

Hätt ich sie nicht rausgetrieben,

Wär die Kuh im Stall geblieben.

 

Wenn sie das Vieh eintreiben:

 

He raus, he rein!

Treib die faule Liesel ein!

Hätt ich sie nicht reingetrieben,

Wär die Kuh auf dem Feld geblieben

 

Kuckuck im grünen Wald

Wieveil Jahr werde ich alt?

(So riefen die Kinder im Walde und zählten dann, wie oft der Kuckuck gerufen hat)

 

Wenn die Schwalben im Herbst fortfliegen, dann zwitschern sie ganz unverständlich. Im Frühling aber, wenn sie wiederkommen, dann schreien sie:

Ein Kind fragt:

=A child asks:

What did you eat?

The other says:

toad with toads

 

(Page = Pogg (pronounce poog with a long o, like in door, or with a short o, like in lot) ) = High German Kröte, typical Low German

 

Kreet = High German Kröte, dialectized). So both words mean the same animal, but in words of different origin.

 

Zimbalist, Zimbalist.

Unsre Kuh, die steht im Mist.

Unsre Kuh, die steht im Stall.

Vater, unser Futter ist all.
